i think the biggest cause of hangovers is acetaldehyde so i will show you guys alcohol metabolism there are two enzymes that metabolize alcohol there's alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogenase and alcohol dehydrogenase converts alcohol which is usually ethanol into acetaldehyde and then acetaldehyde or aldehyde dehydrogenase then metabolizes acetaldehyde into acetyl-coa which is used in our cells for the krebs cycle etc so acetaldehyde problematically is probably is considered a congener and probably creates a lot of oxidative stress in the liver creating increased lipid peroxides
