well in the short term it may help because the l dopa may be a precursor for dopamine in parkinson and parkinson's disease these dopaminergic neurons in the substantia [ __ ] are destroyed essentially by some sort of autoimmune process we don't fully understand the process perhaps it's related to lectins perhaps it's related to something else but we give el doba back to give a precursor for dopamine and this may help with movement because dopamine is one of these neurotransmitters that is essential for movement but in doing so we are giving l-dopa which may be incorporated in fact we know it is incorporated into brains brain tissue and other blood borne proteins in these patients and that leads to aggregation and misfolding these proteins could that also be accelerating parkinsonism yes it could be
