there's one gene here this is one gene the lmna codon482 that creates something called familial partial lipodystrophy and what's going on here is you cannot store fat in a subcutaneous manner and what happens is that if you can't store fat there you get a lot of visceral adipose tissue i believe these people are very lean peripherally and they get very big fat cells because they can't store fat other places they can't get subcutaneous fat so they have a six pack but they get premature atherosclerosis because they have one gene which prevents them from storing fat they get huge hypertrophic rather than hyperplastic adipocytes and what do those hypertrophic adipocytes do they spew out free fatty acids
