in the early 1980s when we were just beginning to talk about the sub-fractionation of cholesterol so a little history lesson for people it's 1959 ish early 1960s ansel keyes is clearly on to something and he is identifying a relationship between serum cholesterol and coronary artery disease he's correctly identifying a relationship and at the time they're doing very rudimentary assessments saying hey if you take the people who are in the top 10 of serum cholesterol and you compare them to the people in the bottom 10 of serum total cholesterol there's a profound difference in atherosclerosis
