Vioxx was an amazing drug I mean ten times better than celebrex ever was for the listener who's wondering what we're talking about celebrex and Vioxx were the first two versions of these things called selective cox-2 inhibitors which were potent and much more selective anti-inflammatory drugs so for people with you know orthopedic issues joint pain things like that but they don't have some of the drawbacks you have with using just non selective inhibitors of cyclooxygenase where such as Advil or Aleve or things like that anyway to make a long story short it was about 2001 when they saw a small subset of patients and turned out those I think that we're hypertensive we're having higher risk of MI taking Vioxx
