and anyone who's listened to this podcast will know that we share the same view regarding LDL which is that we can't interpret it in a vacuum and we are gonna get into that in great detail
The headline is broadly defensible, but the qualifications matter. Effect sizes vary by population, the strongest claims rest on shorter trials, and credible voices push back on how it's typically framed.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.

so this is a screenshot of my lipids from when i was in medical school the university of arizona uh you can see here my ldl was 126. in 2014 my ast and alt were normal my total cholesterol was high because my hdl was 116 and my triglycerides were 45. so i do not have familial hypercholesterolemia but what happened to my cholesterol what happened to my ldl when i started eating more of an animal-based diet when i cut out olive oil when i cut out all plants and essentially when i eliminated any excessive or any extra polyunsaturated fats in my diet the saturated fat went up my polyunsaturated fats went way down i stopped taking any fish oils the real only fish that much my ldl went way up it went to 300 milligrams per deciliter and then over 500 milligrams per deciliter in my most recent lipid panel
The last couple of times I've checked my LDL, it was 165 mg/dL. I actually just got a test of blood work when I was in the United States last week. My LDL is now 130 mg/dL, so it's coming down a little bit
interestingly my LDL has trended down and the most recent LDL in December was 130 with an apob that is now under 100
