having a meniscus injury on MRI is essentially you know in a 40 or 50 year old isn't very meaningful it's much more meaningful that if you suspect there's a meniscus that the patient hasn't been able to have sort of riding on their own they haven't been able to use physical therapy or time to their advantage to get their knee right and then those people will typically benefit a lot from a procedure
