A new study followed participants with metabolic syndrome who performed the Norwegian 4x4 HIIT protocol (4-minute intervals at ~90% max heart rate) 3 times a week for only 4 months each year over an 8-year span. The results? - A 14% increase in VO₂ max. - A 4% increase in power output. - No increase in medication use despite aging 8 years.
