it's conceivable that one of the mechanisms of action of antipsychotic medications is in fact to increase insulin and increase glucose and that we call that a side effect right now and it clearly is a side effect and it has consequences the consequences are weight gain and everything else diabetes but it's possible that the antipsychotics are actually having their antipsychotic effect by at least in the short run delivering more fuel to those cells so that those cells can function more properly
