one of the first things I did when I got to Lenny's lab was to work on Werner syndrome which is premature aging disease and these are kids that died in their teens or 20s aren't they know that that's the different hutchinson-gilford syndrome this one one as they live - it's over 40's yeah but the gene was just cloned by George Martin and his team out there and the coma login yeast is called sgs1 I picked up the paper it was in science I recall when into Lenny's office and I said I've just been scooped but there's a yeast homologue I'm gonna work on that is that okay and he said yeah go for it and so we worked on sts-1 for a little bit and what we found was that they were going through accelerated aging as well so we had a science paper on that and what was exciting about that was that they were also becoming sterile and this were too complex was moving as well just like the normal aging
