so the most common cause is um what's happening is it's it's a sympathetic drive from the brain and what it's doing is pulling the jewel forward and it's an airway response so when your airway closes your your airway has pressure receptors so what happens when you're sleeping is if those pressure receptors go off your brain gets a choking response it's a sympathetic um kind of survival response that you're being choked
