the second generation clocks like grim age and pheno age, they do better job than chronologic age for sure at predicting mortality.
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

You know the second generation clocks like grim age and pheno age, they do better job than chronologic age for sure at predicting mortality.
we have actually two biomarkers one is called dna methylation phenoage but also another one that was named after the grim reaper so the dna methylation grim age now these biomarkers were developed really for that purpose of predicting health span and lifespan as opposed to measuring aging
So, we don't have these really really long follow-up studies but at least the preliminary data seems that it's going to be much better for young people. Because, exactly as you said, these functional things are going to have, what we consider, either a floor or ceiling effect. So, for most people below some certain age, they're all going to perform well on it. They're not at a level where they're seeing dysfunctional decline yet, which goes back to this idea of biological age versus functional age. Whereas the epigenetic clocks are meant to capture more this biological molecular cellular aging that we think will, eventually, feed into that.
So, I totally agree. In younger people, when these things haven't really emerged, this is kind of the only way to kind of proxy who might be heading in that direction.
