you can make a test that is a hundred percent sensitive if you're willing to have 0% specificity and vice-versa for example you could send a letter you could have a little card that says you have cancer and you show it to every single person you meet you have a hundred percent sensitivity right right you will never have a false negative the problem is that so clinically useless because you have no specificity and similarly you could have a little magic card that you show everyone you ever meet for the rest of your life that says you do not have cancer guess what you have a 100 percent specific test it just has zero sensitivity so it's as useful as a warm bucket a hamster vomit
