I've heard this described as squaring of the mortality curve or compression of morbidity and it's something that I think appears to be observed in indigenous peoples maybe not at 109 years old but out there when they die you know indigenous people I think are often misunderstood but the at least within modern history in indigenous people that we've studied when they do die they or their mortality curve appears to be squared as well and this means that they maintain vitality longer in their life in the West what we know is we have this sort of steady decline in our vitality for lack of a more objective measure and you know functionality lean muscle mass our ability to be a functional human and indigenous cultures we see that all those metrics kind of stay more level and then drop off precipitously when they die right this is the compression of morbidity and I think this is the same thing that you're describing it is
