Human diets are not complicated. We just need to put ourselves back into situations that are a little bit wild, and we can intuitively derive. We can from first principles solve the equation of what will be the most ideal diet for humans. This isn't rocket science. Put yourself in the wilderness. What are you going to eat? You're not going to go eating leaves. They're mostly toxic. They're going to give you stomach aches. They're not caloric. They don't taste good. You're either going to look for sweet fruit, which is colorful. You're going to look for some honey. Or you're going to go hunt some animals. That's pretty darn clear for humans.
