i came back very affected by it psychologically and not even knowing i had ptsd because that term was not being used yet — i just thought i was kind of going crazy but i got back to new york after those two months and i was pretty nuts and uh i couldn't take the subway i couldn't be in a small crowded space i i freaked out in a ski gondola i mean i just had reactions to things i never associated with the combat but it was clearly a byproduct of the what i what i experienced and um i got very angry i had a short short fuse i cried a lot you know all the classic symptoms i just didn't recognize them
