we use ceramides to literally keep our fat cells from bursting and you and i would agree that fat cells bursting is a bad thing so ceramides are a protective mechanism to actually strengthen the cell wall cell membrane of fat cells in the process of doing that since insulin's job is to take sugar and put it into fat cells fat cells become more and more resistant to the action of insulin
