we haven't done this study we don't know if it's safe as it is in young people and so we don't have really a clinical study with evidence that this is good
Direct evidence is thin. The claim is plausible and aligns with adjacent findings, but there isn't yet a body of high-quality work that would let us call it well-supported on its own terms.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

what I think is not entirely clear and I think is the purpose of what NIR is hoping to study with tame is if you took a non diabetic non insulin resistant individual and gave them metformin will you enhance their longevity phenotype
what if the benefits of metformin are only going to be most pronounced in people who have otherwise quite defective mitochondria to begin with and/or people who can tolerate a slight hit in the sort of mitochondrial performance because of all the other benefits they're getting and what if that doesn't hold true for someone who's otherwise quite healthy and looking to really maximize mitochondrial health and throughput
Do you think that in a healthy individual who's eating well is of normal weight is insulin sensitive and is exercising robustly metformin could actually be counteractive to benefit that's a profound question i don't know the answer to that and it gets into i don't know if you're going to take me there in terms of the use of metformin for aging healthy people are taking it for ag now i think that's why it's so important to understand this mechanism and then understand the implications of it it is redox is that a good thing or not for longevity and health that's a question that remains to be answered
