so do we is there any evidence that we use cholesterol for energy zero why there's no energy is really coming out of a saturated if the fats that have the most no double bonds that's the most they're carrying the most ATP cholesterol is not producing energy cholesterol cannot be metabolized in produced ATP I mean to me that's the bigger issue right I think what says some people get confused about this it's not that there isn't energy in a carbon-carbon bond or a carbon hydrogen bond because that's exactly what's being liberated in the metabolism of a fatty acid the point is we don't have the enzymatic machinery to undergo the chemical process of breaking down those bonds and liberating the chemical energy into electrical energy can't metabolize cholesterol
