the z disc is where something called phosphatic acid is stored and if you were going to try to transfer a mechanical signal to a chemical signal it makes sense that you would store this stuff in the z disk because that is where a lot of that mechanical tension is going to be felt so in response to that mechanical tension again based on mechanistic studies we believe what happens is that causes phosphatic acid to be released and phosphatic acid is a stimulator of mtor
