and in people who have Hashimoto's we see lower levels of oxalate in the thyroid and that originally sounds kind of strange but then you think wait a minute what if part of the autoimmunity happening in Hashimoto's is a response to the oxalate to pull it out right that's the hypothesis we don't know but is it possible because there's a correlation between lower levels of oxalate and people with Hashimoto's is it possible that there's an autoimmune insult to the thyroid that is happening because oxalate is getting deposited there and then the body is trying to pull some of that oxalate out and as you are actually mounting in the immune response to the thyroid against anti thyroid anti-thyroid peroxidase you are destroying thyroid cells and the immune system is ingesting it pulling it out it's getting excreted who knows it's very fascinating that correlation is striking and propelling
