a saturated fatty acid has no double bonds it's all single bonds between the carbons which means that it's a straight molecule it lays flat and so it can pack more efficiently together and they stay more solid at room temperature
The headline is broadly defensible, but the qualifications matter. Effect sizes vary by population, the strongest claims rest on shorter trials, and credible voices push back on how it's typically framed.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

being saturated just means there are no double bonds every carbon is fully saturated with a hydrogen and then of course you can finish the explanation for what a mono and polyunsaturated a mono unsaturated fat has one double bond to polyunsaturated fat as two or more double bonds that introduces a couple things so one one thing is that whenever you introduce a double bond you create a kink in the molecule so saturated fats are really you can imagine them as as it just being straight and linear and you can pack them together very well so saturated fats tend to be solid
A saturated fat is a hydrocarbon where every bond is saturated. That means there are no double bonds. Um, so every carbon is attached to another carbon but it has two hydrogens on it. They can swiggle around and that gives it unique properties. So one of the properties of a saturated fat is it is more likely to be solid at room temperature. Um, there are a whole bunch of reasons that are going to come up later when we talk about why saturated fat plays a role in cardiovascular disease through its impact on LDL receptors and cholesterol synthesis.
