i actually did write a paper where we reviewed how much sugar was put in drinks alcohol drinks back in the 17 1800s and it was much more than today they loved sugar they put it in in many of their drinks and in fact i even have a picture of an old pub outside the tower of london called the sugar loaf they talk about the old drinks that were served like hypocrites and some of these drinks and sack and sugar was a name for a drink that they had i mean they added a lot of sugar to their drinks and so part of the rise and gout back in the 1800s and 17 1600s relates to not only just the alcohol and the rich foods but also to the sugar they were adding
