so the accurate statement here is that our brain always needs some glucose but for sure we have this amazing ability this amazing biochemical ability to make glucose from a variety of things we can make glucose from lactate we can make glucose from the glycerol backbone or triglycerides we can make glucose from gluconeogenic amino acids and protein this is through the process of gluconeogenesis and that's what our liver does when we are not taking in glucose
