the first thing that happens is we need to phosphorylate fructose and by definition we're already in a high fructose state because we've already exceeded the gut's capacity to metabolize this and so now it's basically a free-for-all with unlimited fructose becoming fructose-1-phosphate and we're generating in the cell lots of adp so we start with atp which has three phosphates we rip off a phosphate to put it on our fructose in the number one carbon position that leaves us with adp adenosine diphosphate it's shy of one phosphate that that thing that reaction doesn't slow down adp further gives up a phosphate becoming amp adenosine monophosphate
