Who says we need plants for hormetic benefits? Why not just live a radical life and avoid all of the toxins that come with plants?
We can't find evidence that holds up here. Proponents are reasoning from mechanism or analogy rather than direct human data, and the most credible skeptics raise objections we can't dismiss.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
i think that plants have a lot of toxins in them and that can be a big issue for people that can be a big issue for uh the digestion all kinds of things like that somebody just said that the connection's kind of shaky so i'm sorry about that if that's not good you guys um somebody just said talk about each of the four or five editions of the carnivore diet you've talked about in terms of no eating you seem to be doing so now thank you so so i would think if you're going to do a carnivore diet now that we've um now that we've established that an omnivore and a carnivore or a facultative carnivore that's my distinction right that um humans don't need anything in plants but for an omnivore there would be unique things in plants and i would say no there is nothing in plants that humans need and they're actually probably net toxic but we can abuse them during a time of starvation
plants have really been trying to kill us for millions of years since the beginning of life plans have been trying to kill animals
