many of the benefits of the ketogenic diet I feel are due in part to calorie restriction not all the benefits but the ketogenic diet makes calorie restriction feasible and when your ketones are elevated that has a brain stabilizing effect and perhaps a satiating effect a protein satiating - but I believe that it helps stabilize the brain in a way that makes it easier to to sustain a calorie deficit which then gives you benefits to metabolic benefits and and many of the benefits that people talk about the ketogenic diet gives or even the carnivore diet it's my opinion that a lot of it has to do it's harder to put a percentage on it but about two-thirds of the benefits I feel are due to this calorie restriction effect and and the suppression of the hormone insulin
