I don't believe that unprocessed red meat specifically is inherently carcinogenic a and the reason is even though you see it come up as carcinogenic in some of these cohort studies the effect isn't always consistent and when they control for overall diet quality where people are eating enough fruits and vegetables because again people eat more of one thing they tend to eat less of another. When you control for some of the overall diet quality variables, you don't really see a consistent association with of red meat with cancer.
