there's really not a lot of difference between exposure to ionizing radiation and non ionizing with respect to the mechanism I discuss it on my new book there it's almost identical the the only difference is that the type of free radical that's causing a damaged hydroxyl versus carboxyl verse versus carbon eel and most of the ionizing is hydroxyl radical it's not I mean that there's enough energy in the ionizing radiation to directly break the covalent bond but most of those bonds are broke by that directly they're broken by the creation of these hydroxyl radicals within the nucleus
