part of metabolism is the production of this these things called reactive oxygen species so these are you know at the easiest way I like to tell people is think about it like a little bit of acid that spills out from a factory like if you go to a power plant or something like there's a little bit of waste product that you know get spilled out every now and then that leaks out and some people think about as what reactive oxygen species are they're actually a lot more complicated than that they end up playing a vital role in our cell they're a signaling molecule they do all sorts of stuff but um but most people even researchers still think of them as bad and waste products exactly it's quite it's not quite so simple no it's not but they stimulate inflammation and we know that when those levels are high they stimulate inflammation
