Animal studies involving direct injection of recombinant or pseudovirus spike protein into hamster tracheas have shown severe lung damage and circulatory/vascular damage.

“There's also been some animal studies shown where either recombinant protein, which is just basically made in a lab, so they make the spike protein, or what's called pseudovirus expressing the spike protein, so this is not the SARS-CoV-2 virus, but it sort of acts like a virus to allow it to get into cells, if you directly inject the pseudovirus with a spike protein into the trachea of hamsters, it causes severe lung damage and also gets into the circulation and causes circulatory damage and vascular damage to the vascular system.”
