a lot of people when they look at a paper let's say it's a bar graph you know um and they see these error bars and they will say people often think oh if the error bars overlap it's not a significant difference but if the error bars don't overlap meaning there's enough separation then that's a real and meaningful difference and that's not always the case it depends a lot on the form of the experiment
