if I've got someone dieting and I want to maintain lean body mass at a calorie deficit I'm gonna push them up to 1.2 or 1.3 grams per pound for a couple of reasons one this a shitty effect the thermic effect of food so they can eat more and not get as many net calories out of that that food consumption and they're not as hungry and maybe at the calorie deficit their body might require a little bit more it's not a building thing it's a prevention of loss in that in that condition
