there was just no question in my mind that muscle mass is a big factor in that
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.
Would love a "what would change this verdict" RSS feed. Sign me up if it exists.
there's an amazing study that demonstrates um like muscle mass changes strength changes and activity changes in men and women as they age and it's one of those things where you don't actually need to understand the the statistics to be able to see the figure and it's exactly as you describe it at the age of 75 there is a cliff that is so violent you can't believe what you're watching and at it's at that Cliff where physical activity level declines like this it just goes boom muscle mass goes Doom strength Doom same thing
like I don't care if I live to 100 and don't have cancer if I'm an invalid for the last 25 years and I can't play with my grandkids and throw a ball like it for me personally I'm not saying that's a that's not a view that everyone should take in the world I'm just telling you that's my view
muscle mass dramatically plummets activity levels dramatically plummet difficult to say which one's feeding which but there's no question that something is happening to our species at about the age of 75 right that is a structural problem
But muscle mass is probably the most important factor for healthy aging. And focusing on building as much muscle as possible I think is super important in preserving that muscle with time.
