but there's also really profound effect on the immune system like part of the benefit of exercise is that it is an acute oxidative stress burst an acute inflammatory burst you know there's then a response to that and the net response is a positive anti-inflammatory and antioxidant response but the inflammatory and oxidant response is required to get that and something similar is happening with with the sauna as well
While no data suggest that sauna use has a direct effect on acute COVID-19 infection, I think there's a convincing argument that sauna use promotes broader changes in immune function that may bolster defense in a contextually beneficial way.
