the one place where it's unambiguous that you need to be doing a traditional lift without restriction is if you're training for maximum strength of that lift which again i don't think most people are doing maximum strength bicep curls i don't think that's but but when you start to talk about a bench press a squat a deadlift a leg press for that matter if you're if you care so much there's probably no substitute for being in that 80 percent to 100 1rm
