there's been associations with moderate alcohol consumption and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth so the bacteria in our gut mostly are localized to the distal end of our large intestine or our colon as it's called bacteria are not really supposed to be in the small intestine i mean this is where fats are absorbed it's where simple sugars are absorbed proteins uh so the complex carbohydrates are mostly broken down in the colon but when bacteria make their way into the intestines it can cause problems it can cause zonulin release
