there are some trials that have been done to answer this exact question that you're asking what if we took a bunch of young healthy people what if we looked at you know subclinical atherosclerosis called the piece of trial these people had an average age of 45 maybe 46 only 15 percent of them were overweight or obese they found that 45 of people with an LDL of 110 45 percent of people had atherosclerosis if you looked at people with LDL of 130 it went up to 58 and if you looked at LDL of 150 it was 65 64 percent had subclinical pathosclerosis
