these are studies that are based on surveys and their food recall and they can be prospective or retrospective meaning the investigators asked people what they eat and then they follow them in 5 to 10 years most of the studies are done on a retrospective basis which means they look back at mortality and people's lives and the quality of their life and usually they're just looking at mortality ratios or death rates and they'll say well what did you eat or what sort of you know things do you include in your diet and then so they're there they're all based on memory number one of what we eat
