what the New England Journal of Medicine article didn't say is that the risk of thrombotic cardiovascular complications meaning as you said heart attacks blood clots and strokes together not individually together was significantly greater uh in vioxx than in Naprosyn which was the comparative drug and in fact the risk of serious Adverse Events the the you had to treat 125 people to prevent one serious GI complication but you're going to cause a serious adverse event in every 41 of out of every 40 people so for every GI complication that you prevented you're going to cause three other serious Adverse Events and um that wasn't in the article and what came out in this article over years the New England Journal finally told the truth about this article they sold uh 900 000 reprints almost all of which were after they knew that their article was wrong
