Writing by hand requires different fine motor skills, including more arm movement and coordination, compared to typing.

“if I had to, you know, design an experiment to test the hypothesis here that, you know, to explain your experience and mine, is that writing by hand, I would argue, requires a different set of less skills with the fingers than typing. So you have to coordinate your fingers more in opposite directions and so forth with typing, but also writing by hand requires more arm movement. And so therefore, I would argue that the difficulty there could be in the types of muscles and the fine motor control you need of those muscles along with speaking in your brain at the same time.”
