I mean there's an area of the brain called the fusiform face gyrus it lies way up along the visual pathway meaning very far from the retina but neurons there are exquisitly tuned to specific faces in fact um if you leion that area people become what's called propos propac agnosia is the syndrome um whereby people say that's a face I know it's a face but I don't know whose face it is
