So whether or not you have a genetic predisposition to depression or not, one of the best things you can do to try and avoid getting depressed is to learn to control your stress system, to not go from short-term stress, which everybody experiences, we all have short-term stressors, to medium term stress to long-term stress, and to not have too many bouts of long-term stress because that probability of getting depressed goes way, way up.
