when you're standing at rest that you're creating a stable base for yourself when you're walking when you're running and certainly when you're lifting or you're playing any sports you're creating the most stable base for yourself possible... you're going to be activating some of the musculature that's I guess for the typical person we think of this as in the arch of the foot and the top of the foot and running up to the front of the shin that's going to create the most stability for your lower limbs your upper limbs your pelvis and your spine
