your body makes around 3g of glycine daily, de novo (from serine via SHMT)… but this falls FAR short of what your body needs for optimal collagen, glutathione (master antioxidant), creatine, heme (for red blood cells), purines (DNA) and more. how far short? more than 10 grams per day (PMID 20093739)!
