One key example of this, for instance, is transfer of fecal matter into another person in order to treat something like colitis and it effectively does that, but if the donor of the stool, of the fecal matter happened to be obese or have some other metabolic syndrome, it's been observed that the recipient can also develop that metabolic syndrome simply by way of receiving that donor's particular microbiota.
