For some of the phenotypes of PCOS the problem is hyper insulin emia High insulin in the blood is driving those Thea cells in the ovaries to overproduce testosterone
The evidence is convergent. Multiple independent sources reach the same conclusion, the underlying mechanism is well-characterized, and even the field's most cautious voices treat it as worth doing.

Every Sunday: the week’s new conflicts and verdict changes — and nothing else.
Native comments, Twitter mentions, and Reddit threads about this claim — surfaced together so the conversation isn't fragmented across platforms.
Bookmarking — the dossier-vs-overview split is the right call. Most of the time I want overview; sometimes I want receipts.

we should call PCOS like hyperinsulinemia you know we should just call it like women's metabolic syndrome or women's ovarian you know hyperinsulinemia
I hate the term polycystic ovarian syndrome because I really think insulin it should be called insulin resistant ovarian syndrome because I think really it's coming from again hyperinsulinemia so really the effects of insulin on the ovaries particularly the thecal cells is causing the testosterone release
