basically this study which is fascinating looked at vegetarians and omnivores and it says that joel if we put an erp on your head if we put essentially the leads for an eeg and looked at your brain activity and we put some on my brain and we looked at a screen and we saw meat when you see meat you are going to have a conscious aversion and when i see meat i am going to have a conscious uh draw toward that meat because i like it but that in vegetarians though aversion towards non-vegetarian food prevails at the subjective level like you may have and is consistent with personal beliefs at the neural level the intrinsic motivational salience of this type of food is preserved
