my years of practice as a family doctor kind of gives me a unique perspective on this because basically modern Western medicine trains young doctors the the question the question is which pills is this patient me that that's the question there is no other question to answer and so you might check labs and you might check the imaging studies but the only reason you're checking all of those things is to find out the answer to the ultimate question which is yeah which pill or which combination of pills does this patient need and so really the only way a modern doctor can mess up is to give someone the wrong pill and that's that's literally it so if you give them the correct field or something that's approximates the correct pill you're good you did a pretty good job doc that's a good job and and me as a family doctor I get to wear many hats and so if you come in with a knee effusion I get to put on my orthopedic app right and I get to drain that knee and inject some steroid and write you a prescription or whatever if you come in with depression I get to put on my psychiatry hat a hat which I really enjoy wearing as I years and years went by my practice I found that I could really make a difference in people's mental health not with the proper pill but very often by weaning down the medications that they were on for psychiatric disorders and talking more and more about their diet first and foremost but then also checking things like thyroid laugh and adrenal labs and labs for inflammation and then I can use that to say hey look your body is globally in play it's globally pissed off and these pills are not going to fix that but you actually could fix this so you want to talk about your diet today because that's actually very very important
