“I think at that age, and this sometimes extends into adulthood, we have this tendency to try and find benchmarks of where we are. And sometimes that turns into a hierarchical thing, sometimes very lateralized. But trying to figure out where you are in the landscape of things, it just seems like it's fundamental to the teenage experience.”
